Citizens’ Council Membership Cards, Jackson, Mississippi, 1965

These Citizens' Council membership cards were used to recruit prominent white businessmen and other white citizens to join the Jackson, Mississippi Citizens' Council. Founded after the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision which mandated school integration, Citizens' Councils across the state used political and economic threats to maintain segregation.
