Affidavit, E.W. Steptoe, Amite County, Mississippi, January 1954

E.W. Steptoe was a very important participant in the Mississippi Freedom Movement. Older than the students working to register voters, a landowner and businessman, Steptoe served as an able guide and protector for the young men and women of SNCC and CORE. A prominent member of his community in Amite County, he still was refused the right to register as stated in this 1954 affidavit.
