Leaflet, Republic of New Africa

This leaflet issued by the Republic of New Africa (RNA), an early Black Power organization, solicits support for building new communities in southern states for African Americans. The leaflet contains the image of Malcolm X who taught that independence comes through land ownership. It also includes an image of RNA President Brother Imari Obadele who calls for blacks to support the RNA’s national bank and move to the south. These calls for economic independence and African American control can be seen as reactions to both the gains and losses of the early Freedom Movement.
