  • 1 - Pal. Rucellai and Loggia
  • Designed for Giovanni Rucellai (1403-81) by Leon Battista Alberti; built by Bernardo Rossellino from 1446. The Loggia dei Rucellai faces the small piazza from across the street. B159 G-L 20 V. Vigna Nuova 18.

  • 2 - Pal. Ricasoli
  • Built 1470s. In 1553 Bishop Giovan Battista da Ricasoli had the façade frescoed with biblical scenes (by Pagni-no longer visible). B160 G-L 9 Pza Goldoni 2.

Square 57 had many households, some shops, many patricians, many households with servants, many households w/o surnames and many households headed by widows. Weavers were likely here."
