"Quarter: S. Maria Nuova, Parishes: S. Maria Novella, S. Pancrazio, Streets: Piazza S. Maria Novella {p}, Piazza S. Pancrazio, V del Garofano (V Palazzuolo {p}), V del Sole, V della Croce al Trebbio, V della Spada, V delle Belle Donne, V Tana d' Orso (V del Moro). Square 46 had many households, some shops, many patricians, many households with servants, many households w/o surnames, and many households headed by widows. The standards in Pza S. Maria Novella were initially erected for the coach races begun by Cosimo I in 1563."
