  • Land and small casino bought by Giovanni Bartolini Salimbeni in the early sixteenth century acquired by Ciappino Vitelli in the 1550s and then by Riccardo Riccardi in 1599 who offered sumptuous entertainment in the large garden (see the full map) on the occasion of the marriage of Marie de Medici with Henri IV of France. The Riccardi employed Silvani in the 17th century to enlarge the casino. G-L 72 V. Gualfonda 9.

"Quarter: S. Maria Novella, Parish: S. Lorenzo, Streets: V Gualfonda {p}. Square 23 had few households, no shops, some patricians, few households with servants, some households w/o surnames and some households headed by widows. This square was much changed when the railroad cut through it beginning in the 1840s."
