  • 1340 Benedictine nuns, house renovated 1568/74, new novitiate 1632. [52 R 1551, 74 1632]. B212 M/R 75 Paatz IV:387. V. Ricasoli No longer exists.

  • 2 - Pal. Gerini (Site)
  • Renovated by G. Silvani? Bought by Senator Carlo Gerini (1616-73) a patrician at the court of Ferdinando II. G-L 60 V. Ricasoli 41.

  • 3 - Pal. Montauto-Niccolini
  • Built by Baccio d'Agnolo for Bastiano da Montauto ca. 1548-50. Bought by Senator Giovanni di Agnolo Niccolini (1543-1611) in 1576 who enriched it. Continued in his line of Niccolini who became Marchesi of Ponsacco and Camugliana. G-L 65 V. dei Servi 15.

  • 4 - Pal. Sforza Almeni
  • Built by the Taddei 1510s. Confiscated by Cosimo I and awarded to his cup-bearer Sforza Almeni, who had it decorated and frescoed (designs by Vasari-no longer visible) in the 1550s. Medici-Toledo arms on the corner. Remained in the Almeni family after Sforza Almeni's death in 1566. G-L 64 V. dei Servi. 12

Square 17 had many households, many shops, many patricians, many households with servants, some households w/o surnames and many households headed by widows."
