14th cent? Tertiary Dominican nuns; closed 1622? [11 R 1551] Paatz V:407. V. Gualfonda No longer exists.
A 15th. cent? palace of the Lucalberti, bought 1555 by the Baglioni (military commander of Cosimo I during the Sienese War); later sold to Niccolo Cerretani in 1625. The Cerretani were senators under the duchy. G-L 40 Pza Nuova di S. Maria Novella (Pza dell'Unita 1).

This square was much changed by the building of the new central railroad station in the 1930s."
