Cleaning and Editing Meshes

Meshes are the kind of 3D model composed of points in space connected by lines, creating a complex network of triangles. They are the output of 3D scanners and 3D modelling programs that create organic shapes.

Meshes are also often very difficult to edit and modify, and when you suddenly find that your mesh won't print in a 3D printer because of something called "non-manifold edges", a quick google search will reveal that you're swimming in a deep pool.

This workshop will be a quick, easy-to-understand introduction to meshes and some of the tools and techniques available to address many of the issues you'll encounter.

This workshop won't teach you everything there is to know about editing meshes (that is a topic worthy of much study), but it will give you a firm basis as you head out on your 3D mesh modelling adventures.

This workshop is at 12:00 noon on April 2, 2019 at the Granoff Creative Arts Center, room N320.
