Virtual Reality in the YURT

One of the most compelling ideas that came out of the 1980s version of Star Trek was the "holodeck", an immersive space in which an otherwise banal room would be transformed into an alternate computer-constructed reality.

That vision is remarkably close to reality with Brown's YURT and CAVE environments. Once viewers put on head-tracking glasses, the walls, ceiling, and floor melt away, leaving an environment that is entirely (and convincingly) computer-generated.

This workshop will show off the one-of-a-kind YURT facility. We are hoping to bring some of the content generated in previous workshops for viewing in this amazing environment.

This workshop is at 12:00 noon on February 12, 2019 in the lobby of the Center for Computation and Visualization at 180 George Street.
