Ingrid Knapp was born in Queens, New York in March of 1965. After moving to Providence in 1987, she began to channel the experience of her German Catholic upbringing into the active political expression of AIDS activism. She was an early active member of Rhode Island's ACT-UP chapter beginning in '88.
