Walter Feldman was born in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1925, and is best known for his contribution in visual art. Walter attended Yale University, where he studied with Willem de Kooning and Josef Albers, and served in the US Army Infantry during World War II. He began teaching at Brown University in 1953, and continues to teach there. In 1990, he founded Ziggurat Press, which publishes works including small-edition handmade books designed by Feldman in conjunction with several distinguished poets, including C.D. Wright, Michael Harper, and Denise Levertov.
