Children's Theater
Born and raised in Providence, Diane has been storytelling in the city since she was fifteen. Knowing that few underprivileged kids would come off the street into the library, Diane brought the books and her stories outside to its stoop. Self-described as a "teacher in performer's clothing," Diane has encouraged young people in New England to engage with drama and literature through her company's use of storytelling and theater. Looking Glass Theater, based in Providence, travels to schools around the region performing plays adapted from children's books. Diane has been executive director of the theater since 1988.
