From 1990-2005, Mark Lerman served as the artistic director of Perishable Theatre, an experimental theater in downtown Providence. Lerman grew up in several cities around North America, living in Rochester, NY, Montreal, Canada, and Atlanta, GA, all before the age of seventeen. He spent a year and a half at the University of California at San Diego's MFA theatre program, and then transferred to the Trinity Repertory Conservatory program, from where he graduated in 1989. Under Lerman's guidance, Perishable Theatre grew to be a nationally recognized theater company, and is now one of the top ten largest arts organizations in Rhode Island.
