All names of the Signoria before the first term of 1346 were taken from the Priorista Rastrelli or the Priorista di Palazzo. Names for the Collegi are missing before 1329; for 1329-1342 they were taken from the Priorista di Palazzo. Thereafter, in unlisted years and blank cells nothing significant is missing from the Giornali of the Tratte. Some material from the Giornali is missing for 1348-49, in the period 1352-76, and in 1402-04. After suspension of the Tratte in the spring of 1495, some names of those elected through the Consiglio Maggiore were recorded in the Giornali (Tratte 607) until August 1497. The Giornali listings (Tratte 608) resumed in October 1512. Names of Buonuomini and Gonfalonieri di Compagnia in the intervening period were found from other sources. In general, all names for the Signoria are present in the file throughout, although before 1346 and for the terms indicated SP only ‘seduti’ are present. There are a few gaps for the Buonuomini and Gonfalonieri di Compagnia in the fourteenth century. |
