  • 1 - Justice Column
  • Gift to Cosimo I from the Baths of Caracalla in Rome by Pope Pius IV 1560, erected 1565 to commemorate the Battle of Montemurlo (defeat of the fourusciti 1537). Porphyry statue of Justice at the top by Tadda added for Francesco I 1581 Pza S. Trinita.

  • 2 - S. Trinita Par. Mon.
  • 11th cent. Par. Ch. Vallombrosian monks. New façade by Buontalenti 1593-94; further renovations 17th cent. [19 R. 1551, 35 1632] B187 M/R 93 Paatz V:257 Pza S. Trinita.

  • 3 - Pal. Altoviti-Medici Tornaquinci
  • (Above dot) 15th cent. Strozzi palace, acquired after other owners by Guglielmo di Francesco Altoviti 1610. Passed to Medici-Tornaquinci in the 19th cent. G-L 17

  • 4 - Pal. Bartolini-Salimbeni
  • Built by Baccio d'Agnolo in 1520-23 for Giovanni di Bartolommeo Bartolini. B164 G-L 13 Pza S. Trinita 1.

  • 5 - Pal. Buondelmonte
  • Built by Cronaca? Baccio d'Agnolo? for the Buondelmonte early 16th century. Façade frescoed in the 1550s with scenes of Alexander the Great-no longer visible. G-L 5 Pza S. Trinita 2.

  • 6 - Pal. Corsi
  • Bought from the Ughi by Simone di Jacopo Corsi in 1560 who had it rebuilt [by Giambologna?]. Has a portrait bust of Duke Francesco I on the façade. Now called Pal. Del Circolo dell' Unione. G-L 16 V. Tornabuoni 7.

  • 7 - Pal. Davanzati
  • 14th century palace of the Davizzi, bought by Bernardo Davanzati, a wealthy Florentine merchant at Lyons and man of letters, in 1578. G-L 11 Pza Davanzati.

  • 8 - Pal. Gianfigliazzi-Masetti
  • Houses of the Gianfigliazzi transformed into a palazzo by Gherardo Silvani in the early seventeenth century. B211 G-L 6 Lung. Corsini 2.

  • 9 - Pal. Minerbetti
  • 15th cent. Portrait bust of Cosimo I. G-L 14 V. Tornabuoni 3.

  • 10 - Pal. Spini-Feroni
  • Tall medieval houses of the Spini. The half facing Pza. S. Trinita was renovated internally by Geri Spini ca. 1606-11; after his death in 1651 it passed to the da Bagnano family who rebuilt the façade in baroque style; the medieval façade was restored ca. 1875. B161 G-L 4 V. Tornabuoni 2.

  • 11 - Pal. Strozzi del Poeta
  • Inherited by Giovan Battista di Lorenzo Strozzi, a literary figure, who had the façade rebuilt by G. Silvani ca. 1626. G-L 15 V. Tornabuoni 5.

  • 12 - Pal. Corsini in Parione (Site)
  • Houses confiscated by Cosimo I from Bindo Altoviti, occupied by the Marchese di Marignano (commander during the Sienese War), Don Giovanni de Medici, and other Medici princes. Bought by Maddalena Machiavelli nei Corsini in 1640. In 1650 Marchese Bartolommeo Corsini began construction of the palazzo by A. Parigi, F. Tacca, P. F. Silvani, A. Ferri and others, which continued into the 1730s. G-L 8 Lung. Corsini 10.

"Quarter: S. Maria Novella, Parishes: S. Maria degli Ughi, S. Miniato fra le Torri, S. Trinita, Streets: Lungarno, Parione {p}, Piazza S. Trinita, V Legnaiuoli (V Tornabuoni {p}), V Porta Rossa {p}, Square 58 had a moderate number of households, some shops, many patricians, some households with servants, some households w/o surnames and many households headed by widows. "
