"Schools Advance, Stoddard Reports"

Providence Journal article, September 13. 1932

Excerpt from the article:

"The past school year and the year which opened yesterday with a record-breaking enrollment of more than 43,000 students, are one of the "most memorable periods" in the history of Providence public schools, Superintendent Alexander J. Stoddard declared in his annual report submitted to the School Committee last night...

...The new central high school, housing pupils of the former Technical and Commercial schools, will operate on two shifts "until such time as some of the students can be accommodated through the construction of one or more of the regional high schools," Mr. Stoddard said.
