Education

Even within her social class Luise Kulmus enjoyed an unusual education. Both parents encouraged her learning. Her father discouraged domestic work that damaged her eyes for reading, and her mother allowed her to follow her inclination in fields of learning and accomplishment. They allowed her to attend public catechism classes at St. Johann's, where she allegedly surpassed the school boys of St. Johann's in her knowledge of religious matters.
