Elli Mylonas is Associate Director for Projects and Research. She came to STG early in 1994 as Lead Project Analyst. She is principally responsible for developing and managing STG research projects and also participates in them as an STG consultant. Her areas of expertise lie in hypertext, SGML, structured text problems, and digital libraries. She has published and spoken on hypertext and electronic text, as well as on project management and academic software projects. Before coming to STG, Elli was Managing Editor of the Perseus Project at Harvard University, a multimedia database on classical Greek civilization.

Some current STG projects include developing a database for South Asian manuscripts in American collections (with Brown University's Department of History of Mathematics) and consulting on the textbase aspects of the Decameron Web.

Since July 1999, Elli has been the Chair of ACM SIGWeb (the Association for Computing Machinery's special interest group on hypermedia and hypertext). She has recently become co-editor of Computers and the Humanities, the journal of the Association for Computers and the Humanities.

Elli received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and studied at the École Pratique des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She is on leave from the doctoral program in the Department of Classics at Brown University.
